Toys

I saw that toy
A long time go
In the back of the department store window

I walked right inside
To see if I could buy it
But when I saw the price tag
I knew I'd never be able to try it

I can't stop shopping for children's toys
Yeah, I know, they're made for little girls and boys
But when I see them there
It's all I can do not to stare
I wish that they were mine
I wish that I could take them home this time
But I'd never have that kind
I can't just buy the round my wallet's dry

They have a place in every child's home
In plastic bins
They have all the big movie tie-ins

I have all the nostalgia
The memories from my youth
But I can't bring myself to spend my hard-earned money on
Something with so little practical use

I can't stop shopping for children's toys
Despite their target market they still bring me joy
When I see them there
It's all I can do not to stare
I wish that they were mine
I wish that I could take them home this time
But I'd never have that kind
I can't just buy the round my wallet's dry
