Purple Jesus (Simple Version)
I came home from Sunday School
With a picture and a crayon
I showed it to my mom and I asked her
Can you tell me about this purple man
She looked at the picture and laughed
Then she grew distant and sad
She shook her head and said
No my son I can't
I hung that picture on my wall
And as years went by I forgot
He would catch my eye and I'd think to ask
But I always got
Caught up in something else to do
Or somewhere else to be
But the purple man was always there for me
As life would have it I met this girl
And one day in my room
She saw the picture of the purple man
And said Oh you know Him too
I looked at the picture and laughed
Then I grew distant and cold
I shook my head a said
No my friend I don't
She said His name is Jesus
And he was born in Bethlehem
He is God's only child
And He died for our sins
But it's okay because in three days
He rose again
And if you believe that when you die
You can live with Him
My son came home from Sunday School
With a picture and a crayon
He showed it to me and asked me
Dad can you tell me about this yellow man
I looked at the picture and laughed
Then I grew joyful and glad
I picked him up and I said
Yes my son I can
With a picture and a crayon
I showed it to my mom and I asked her
Can you tell me about this purple man
She looked at the picture and laughed
Then she grew distant and sad
She shook her head and said
No my son I can't
I hung that picture on my wall
And as years went by I forgot
He would catch my eye and I'd think to ask
But I always got
Caught up in something else to do
Or somewhere else to be
But the purple man was always there for me
As life would have it I met this girl
And one day in my room
She saw the picture of the purple man
And said Oh you know Him too
I looked at the picture and laughed
Then I grew distant and cold
I shook my head a said
No my friend I don't
She said His name is Jesus
And he was born in Bethlehem
He is God's only child
And He died for our sins
But it's okay because in three days
He rose again
And if you believe that when you die
You can live with Him
My son came home from Sunday School
With a picture and a crayon
He showed it to me and asked me
Dad can you tell me about this yellow man
I looked at the picture and laughed
Then I grew joyful and glad
I picked him up and I said
Yes my son I can
