The Lotus

You picked me out from the garden You ripped off all of my petals
You tried to hurt me when I asked you to be gentle
Thought you would be the one to take me home
But I was so wrong, you left me out in the cold to freeze and die alone
You took away all that I've known

As you walked into my garden, I thought you'd tend to me
I thought you'd love on me
But you put me down, got trampled underneath your feet
And you said to me, you said to me
"You really thought you were the one you'll never find a way to run,
I've plucked you down, you're falling to the ground
And when I'm finally done with you, no one will want you now"

Im stripped of all that I once had, including rose-colored lenses
You saw me vulnerable, but I'm building up my fences
You're a poison, I need an antidote
Like weeds wrapped around my throat
Can't breathe, fighting to set myself free

As you walked into my garden, I thought you'd tend to me
I thought you'd love on me
But you put me down, got trampled underneath your feet
And you said to me, you said to me
"You really thought you were the one you'll never find a way to run,
I've plucked you down, you're falling to the ground
And when I'm finally done with you, no one will want you now"

Your lips, your words, the way you spoke,
You smothered me like wildfire smoke
You made me out to be your dying focus
Thought I was weak, a little wilted flower
But I stand up, I found my power
You didn't know
I am the lotus.

When you walked into my garden, I thought you'd care for me
I thought you wanted me
But you picked me up and my thorns they cut you deep
And now I see, that you can bleed
The monster with the mighty grip
Ive slipped out of your fingertips
I'm finally a wildflower again
The wind it carries me now that I've found
I don't want you now
The wind it carries me now that I've found
I don't want you now
