Tree

A young kid stole a tree
It was the same size as him
Carried it along the streets
Replanted it back at home

Hoped it grew much bigger
So he could climb it one day
But the days kept on coming
And the boy became a man

In a blink of an eye-ey
The years flew by
Be careful what you wish for,
It might be only there - here right now

There is pride, there's regret
More orbits do not change that
Dreams rusted relentlessly
A lower heart pace, relieves

Streaks of gray now frame your face
Makes you beautiful I'd say
Relish those memories
Moments last until they are said

In a blink of an eye-ey
The years flew by
Be careful what you wish for,
It might be only there - here right now

In a blink of an eye-ey
The years flew by
Be careful what you wish for,
It might be only there - here right now

In a blink of an eye-ey (the days kept on coming)
The years flew by (there is pride, there's regret)
Be careful what you wish for (the days kept on coming)
It might be only there - here right now (there is pride, there's regret)

It's a sunny cold afternoon
The colors have left their leaves
Another 19 years later
A young kid is climbing my tree
