Little Me

I remember going through school, my head almost shaved
Bouncing off the walls in the second grade
Thought I had it all figured out
Little did I know I was just starting out

No hats in the schoolyard, then that was okay
Just me and my old friends playing football games
Where did that confidence go
Man, my younger self would like to know

Where did the passion for the Lord go
When did all my interests change
From something that was so simple
To this puzzle hanging in my head
Praying every night in bed
Asking the Lord, can you hear me yet
That little me who had it all figured out
Man, where is he now

I wish I could pick up the phone and call him now
I know he'd have words to say, or we'd just all get out
Man, what a spirit I used to have
Is it abused or is it just hollowed out

Where did the passion for the Lord go
When did all my interests change
From something that was so simple
To this puzzle hanging in my head

Praying every night in bed
Asking the Lord, can you hear me yet
That little me who had it all figured out
Man, where is he now

Where is he now
Where is he now

Now if I ran into him, would he recognize who I am
The man I thought I'd be or the man that cannot even stand
On his own mentally, would he tell me how proud that he is
Or would he start by balling his fist

Where did the passion for the Lord go
When did all my interests change
From something that was so simple
To this puzzle hanging in my head
Praying every night in bed
Asking the Lord, can you hear me yet
That little me who had it all figured out
Man, where is he now

Where is he now
Where is he now
Man, where is he now
