Respite

Once in a lifetime, you may find a place where your heart finds rest
And dreams become colorful, places feel as if they're at their best
Everything shimmers, all you see is spotless beauty
I gave up on hoping, I'd find an answer to this thought

My biggest mistake was failing to tell you what love really meant
I gave it all away for something that I knew could never last
A broken heart isn't the same as one which

Every now and then, I reflect on what could have been
All those memories imparted to obscurity, those dying neurons kept
For generations, the myth was passed down to whatever was left
The heart grows fonder, with memories preserving you at your best

If I have one regret it was hiding from you what love really meant (All you gained was for naught)
Those feelings which plunged so deep (To the fire with all those failing thoughts)
Couldn't be explained with the words I had then
No use in dwelling on things better left unsaid (A chance to remove what was better lost)

Everything is temporary when the once permanent has been spent
A forgotten heart could never be the same as one which found rest
