Low On 20th Street

After my brain spilled out my ears
And I made a fool of myself back there
Began the long pilgrimage to home
Trying to collect all the scrambled thoughts
That was a dive from an epic height
A collapse so wretched even for me
Reading the room with a blindfold on
As then she'd recoil with an awkward shrug

Well the forces of love weren't by my side that night
Just a major display in lapse of mind
And in a stupid audacious state of thought I said to myself
"Yeah she feels it!"
"Yeah she feels it!"
"Yeah she feels it!"

It's funny how two can share a scene
But severely contrast in how it's seen
That gap in experience would declare itself
When I made the bold play showing how I felt
When I had left possessed by shock
I was dragging my weight along sidewalks
Slogging my way through the swarming streets
Self-worth is so down I'd make a bum look proud

Well the forces of love weren't by my side that night
Just a major display in lapse of mind
And in a stupid audacious state of thought I said to myself
"Yeah she feels it!"
"Yeah she feels it!"
"Yeah she feels it!"
If I could choose, that's a blunder I'd erase
Though I suppose fate lays our paths out this way
And with the magic wave of its wand
The cosmos said with a grin
"You will eat this!"
"You will eat this!"
"You will eat this!"
