Summer City

Summer with a smell of gas and diesel in the city
Of trucks and cars and diggers putting holes into the street
A layer of exhaust is slowly floating to the gutter
And drowning in the gushes of a fire hydrants leak

The flashing neon signs are screaming for attention
A glorious temptation for a loaded credit card
A window full of dolls in ladies underwear collection
And dealers making business by the willows in the park

A cafe on the sidewalk make adjustments for the season
A traffic light is changing fast so people have to rush
A taxicab is honking for whatever no good reason
A whistle from a bypass makes a pretty woman blush

And hookers in the alley fix their makeup for the evening
In imitation leather getting ready for a ride
A tourists is taking shots of every statue by the fountain
And barbecues deliver smell of chicken in the fry

A flyer with commercials for a local exhibition
Is fasten on the windscreen of a car stuck in the jam
A shoplifter is caught up as he crashes to a newsstand
The scene makes a police car smash the bumper of a van

A plain grey wall is getting covered with graffiti
Though splashes from a drain has made the colors all combine
The hawker on the pavement is selling apocryphal jewelry
An element expected of the inner city life

It's so nice so fine in my summer city
It's all right it's all right in my summer city
Won't you join me for a while in my summer city
It's so good to be alive in the summer
