Where Dragons Roam
I shiver in my bed, a soul encased in ice
To the demon in the hearth, I will not offer sacrifice
An essence split and shattered is a hollow paradise
Take me so far away from home where dragons roam
The scarred must walk among us, I can't be the only one
Our arms and backs sting in the light of the cold sun
Beyond our frosted windows, there's a better life to come
Take me so far away from home where dragons roam
I'm sitting in the tavern and nursing my mulled wine
When a young traveler throws off his hood and declares, "this round is mine!"
As we toast to newfound brotherhood I hear whispers from the tables
That a drunk and vengeful farmhand's causing chaos in the stables
She staggers and wipes her forehead as she argues with the barman
And claims the horses he's been keeping belong to her homeland
As he starts makes his case, she inhales another drink
And decks him right across the chin before he has time to think
And as our jaws hang open in silent surprise
She rights herself and looks us in the eyes
"Pardon my reach, but if adventure you seek
How'd ya like to make some coin and go down in history?
My name's Áine and I was lying about the steeds
I care not for my homeland, but for creatures in need
We'll climb those snowy mountains, and that's where we'll make our stand
Against the beast who hordes the treasure and brings terror to our land"
Áine leads us through the depths of twisting, frozen caves
Where legions of explorers have found their untimely graves
Onto the lair of a horrid beast that's raring to attack
Beneath his scaly haunches sits a strange stone artifact
The creature bares his teeth and draws up to his fifteen feet
I stumble on a mossy rock as I bravely retreat
But sensing warmth and fear and peril, the stone emits a blinding glow
And with the beast distracted, we draw our swords and to battle we go
After our great conquest, to the pub we did retire
We warmed our bones as the baby dragon hatched beside the fire
We traded stories for all the pies and ale our hearts desired
Heroes in a land so far from home where dragons...
Guidelines on a canvas, words upon a page
Blood spills over soil in metallic grayscale rage
Actors slay plastic monsters on a wooden stage
Far away from this frigid home where dragons roam
To the demon in the hearth, I will not offer sacrifice
An essence split and shattered is a hollow paradise
Take me so far away from home where dragons roam
The scarred must walk among us, I can't be the only one
