Insomnia Blues No. 20/42

I keep looking back at life just trying to make sense
Of all the things I've done that I wouldn't do again
And it makes me kind of tired and it robs me of my sleep
But I'm reminded to be thankful for all the things I could keep

It's an early March morning and I'm thinking of these things
When regret wins the hour take deep breaths with the trees

Smell the scent of the seasons
Hear the sounds on the lake
With the love of a family
Strong bonds are hard to break

When the night moves so slow and the morning's so far away
And the silence does surround you like the fog out on the lake

And when the morning finally comes you just cannot believe
All those hours were wasted while you searched for peace

Now the sun's moving high and it makes you feel strong
Then a couple hours more that feeling has moved on

You make it through the day but fearful of the night
But thankful you have someone to love and hold you tight
