I been alone in my room thinking its my time to go

One day I was leaving the gas station
With a couple 40's in my hand and another waitin
On me at home with a bullet with my name on it
Carpet with some stains on it
Boutta leave my brains on it
I passed a homeless man that was begging for change
And he just looked up at me he asked me my name
And I said look man I don't got nothin to give
And I just kept walking knowing I aint have much life to live
But that's when he said actually I had something for you
But I just kept walking tryna ignore the dude
But thats when he he lifted his voice and he shouted at me
He said sir wait
Are you happy

He said do you know what happiness is

He said there was a boy named Tyler
His parents overdosed when he was 7
He bounced around in foster care until he turned 11
He finally found a family that wanted him and he dreamed
That his life would be great
But he was beaten and raped
By his new father and his new mother aint help him and
One day he got tired and said to hell with this
He grabbed his dads gun and waited for him to get home
And when he pulled up he put 2 in his dome
The next thing that he knew
Police were at the door
Screaming and waiving guns they brought Tyler to the floor
He aint even say nothing he was cold to his core
Years of pain had made him numb
He aint wanna be here no more
When he saw the judge he said he wouldn't see daylight till 54
They gave him 40 years

But he told me
That was the best thing that ever happened to Tyler
Cuz in that jail cell was the first time he picked up a bible
When you know where you're from
Worldly things can't hurt you
You don't trip on what's temporary

And with that he started walking away
But this time it was me who asked him his name
He looked at me
He said his name was Tyler
