Poem Four: A Testimony

Lord, I pray for peace of mind
It's the most valuable thing one could have
So I just want to say a word about my testimony
This is my story, this is my song
Lord, help us

Excuse for the sad shit
Off of my chest had to vent like the dust in the vent had to clean through
Make a snow angel, make a halo and the wings too
Snow is my guardian
Up go the shield and the sword it was blessed by the Lord, may the chords touch the soul
He was always there, we was never alone
Waitin' on the COTA in the rain, it was cold with my brother
But we blessed to just get where we goin

Made it home safely, may God be the glory
Even when the peace just seem so foreign
I don't pray as much as I should, I ain't even gone fake it
Wonder in the woods, I was lost, I was aimless
Smokin' on woods till the trees shade pain, cover heart till it painless
When I come down, still anxious
God in my ear, young nigga, be patient
Praise Yahweh, He the voice, He the Savior
Made Wanyeh from the dirt, He awaken

He's still lookin' for the light from the beam of the flash
When the Christ come by
Can't see Him face to face or a nigga turn blind
But He's still there when the sun don't shine
When you hear my cry, when a loved one die
When a loved one

It's the Father and the Son, Holy Ghost plus the poet
Holy water flowin' what I'm pourin', cup runneth over
Concretes of Columbus full of roses
Even when it's snowin'
Breakin' the laws of nature
Breaking the chains from the slaves heading north to escape the danger
Black mothers using their arms as cradles
To all the black women, I love and thank you
Mary laid her baby in the manger
Black women raised me, I love and thank you
They was consistent even through the changes
Fightin' through trials and plus tribulations
Taking good care of the sons of David
A rock and a stone kill a monster
Ran back to Jesse, shout out black fathers
The media say that you absent, but you taught us honor
You was right there just to help through the trauma
You was right there just to
You was right, you was right
You was prayin', askin

Lord prepare me

I once wallowed in sin without a Savior
Broke in darkness without light
But I heard the voice of Jesus sayin
Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden
And I'll give you rest

And you know I came to Jesus as I was
Withered, wounded, and sad
I found in Him a resting place and He has made me glad

I found pardon from a past
I found power for the present
And I found a bright prospect for the future

I found where a poor man has a chance
Where a sick man can get well
Where an ignorant man can become wise
Where a bad man can be made good
A good man can be made better

And even a dead man can be made alive in Jesus Christ
