The Reaper

Silence breaks
The floor will groan
Under my weight
And I will ache
We are the same
I'm flickering
An open flame
It's amber gaze

Like a child
I'll hold my breath
And count the time
You'll ask me why
And I'll Reply
It ends the same
Each time I try
A starlit night

I'll decide what's not my fault
And I am no clean judge at all
But when we're made to state our growth
I'll never be the one who choked
(But there you go)

Thoughts arise
My lack of trust
In restless eyes
I'm not surprised
By my design
I'd drink the scorn
You'd call it wine
And I'd resign

Acid truth
Your tongue will burn
With names you've chewed
The smoke consumed
Won't be of use
You'll end a priest
Of empty pews
A faithless tomb

Tempting fate and chasing ages
Feeding what your lungs can take
Violet top lip, freezing witness
Shoot to kill but not to aim
(Your sound is just a noise-filled space)
