Hue of Blue

Found myself on most days, on the wrong side of the tracks
Watchin' all the southbound moving trains
Wasting my time just trying to relax
While constantly going against life's grains

The lines of the tracks, they ran straight out of town
I always knew they would never meet
Optical illusions may confuse you and bring you down
To wrong conclusions, in the form of self conceit

On the palette of my life, from a painters point of view
Looking for the vanishing point, where I turned that page with you
Timeline's running straight, but the speed of light, it bends and burns
Coulda slowed it down a little, avoiding some wrong turns

Seeing myself, from where I stood, behind the mirror
Watching new lines running down my face
Wasting my time, trying hard to adhere
To those laws I broke, while in the state of grace

All my pictures, from a photographer's point of view
I'm lookin' for a way that I could stay in the frame with you
Timeline's running straight, but the speed of light, it bends and burns
Coulda slowed it down a little, by running straight uphill

Got a lifetime's supply of canvas and paint
And pictures of me that show someone I ain't
The paint that I'm using causes blues to bleed thru
And all of those pictures show me in a hue of blue
