Downstream Drift

We headed up to Austin before fall
We took a dip in the springs and drove to the lake
The sun sets orange and pink then fades away
Laid on the hood that night
Shooting stars left and right
Didn't say much but that's all right
As the world spun away and disappeared
Sung a song that tingled our ears
You rolled out and I rolled in
A butterfly dance with you
The next day we looked for something to do
Then we pulled behind a truckful of girls with inner tubes
With their cutoff jeans they laughed and waved us through
So we headed to the river that dissolves the blues
Felt world spin away and disappear
As we float like limes in our beers
Blue water calls just like your eyes
Loving this downstream drift with you
Lost my sunglasses that time ago
When you flipped me over and said there you go
We kept on sailing downstream
As we hold on to our dreams
A ring for you a ring for me
Living this downstream drift with you
Loving this downstream drift with you
