Eulogy to the Ugly Duckling

Eulogy
To the Ugly Duckling
To the Ugly Duckling

You looked at me
Like a common seed in the ground
You looked at me
Like just another little girl
That stands at a crown
You look at me
Like a fragile egg in a nest
What good could come from within this brittle shell
I guess
It is my process that you detest
You did not see a tree
Not royalty
You did not see an eagle
Nor the becoming of me
How could you have known that this albumen and egg yolk
Will be the making of my eagle bones
Take away these fickle tropes
Quit trying to drape over me
What you deem a befitting robe
You know they are lowkey cloaks
Belittling clothes
Born out of an attempt to fashion design for me
Images from a limited perception of what I should be
Your doubt is palpable
I can tell
With you there's a pungent smell of see finish lingering in the air
I get
It's hard to fathom, to figure how
A rejected stone is a pillar now
The butt of the joke is lead character now
Let this eulogy to the ugly duckling teach you some morals
That greatness starts from nothingness
Beauty is born from ugliness
Like the heavens and earth from deep darkness
Every day you and I are an embodiment
Of the replication of the creation chronicles
I am the chosen one
I am the genesis
I am the embryo, I am the buried seed
I am a nebula
The unfurling of a cosmic masterpiece
I am a caterpillar
So take a seat
And watch this phenomenon
That is my metamorphosis
Or you can take your leave
And go partner with divinity
To begin a journey on your own creation story

You see
Every time a little girl like me opens her mouth to speak
Your consciousness is elevated
