Compass

At what point are our minds set
When is it that the answers arrive
To solve the issues we debate
When we should let them out with the tide

You can program your compass
For long roads of listless nights
But what good does it do you
With changing magnetic lines

We'll never know
Guessing until we're sure
That it will always be out of control

Ever-moving destinations
Lost before one foot was even out the door
Listen to what they tell me
To a point it isn't useful anymore

It isn't gone, faith
It's just a little deeper in the soil
It isn't paused, our search
It's just a little farther off than we'd hoped

And we'll never know
Guessing until we're sure
That it will always be out of control
