Reflections and Refractions

My shadow grows taller as I stare at my reflection
Black rays from behind me telling me I'm nothing

The spectrum of light can only tell so much
Think I invented a new color "melancholy rush"

Do I thrive from being miserable?
Do I love the unattainable?
Will I get over myself soon?
Do I thrive from the sunburn on my skin?
Do I love the sadness to display?
Will I just sit in the infrared rays?

Spent so much time trying to prove myself
Been so very stubborn ever since I was twelve
Told I had depression but I guess it was not news

Do I thrive from being miserable?
Do I love the unattainable?
Will I get over myself soon?
Do I thrive from the sunburn on my skin?
Do I love the sadness to display?
Will I just sit in the infrared rays?
