California Sunshine

Said goodbye to the people at home
My day is done, it's time to roam
Just a shirt on my back, my thumb, and a comb
I need a little warmth
I met some disciples whom no one could teach
With love in their pockets but their souls out of reach
Looking for the same thing as I was
They promised me not to forsake
They made a home among the snakes
And slept on a bed of rocks and stones
At least it was my own
No more noise inside my head
No more walking with the dead
A paradise that's so divine in
California sunshine
I met a young girl with strawberry hair
With love in her pockets and much more to share
Looking for the same thing
(Looking for the same thing, looking for the same thing)
...as I was
Where were you when I was young?
I had so much to overcome
Oh, she hid more than she showed
At least she was my own
I held her close and lapped it up
Cool spring water from her cup
And I saw God as we intertwined in
California sunshine
Mystic haze
Been growing for days
Gonna run run run
Until the clouds meet the rain
Let the mourning take me away
To a brighter place on higher plane
And as the Earth flies away in the thickening night
I fall into the light
And I fly
