Heart of the Source

High on up in the mountains
A shimmering crystalline river is born
Snow slowly melts as it's kissed by the sun
And tendrils of rivulets merge into one
Forming the heart of the source

I've been hearing her singing
Her songs are like old friends a-calling me home
Pulled by perpetual melody's hum
I've been walking for days through the mountains I've come
To drink from the heart of the source

Up on the mountain high
Above the clouds
There is a fountain where
Nature knows no bounds
Songs pour like diamonds
Right out of the ground
Where the heart of the source can be found

Follow the song of the river
Like bright silver flying fish
Tunes hop on out
It's for unfettered expression of soul that I yearn
I've come to your headwaters so I can learn
To sing from the heart of the source

Up on the mountain high
Above the clouds
There is a fountain where
Nature knows no bounds
Songs pour like diamonds
Right out of the ground
Where the heart of the source can be found

When my time has expired
When I take my last breath
And my heart its last beat
The miraculous gift of this flesh and bone sack
I'll lay me on down
And give it all back
To return to the heart of the source

If ever there was such an eden
With meadows of berries
And rainbows of flowers
And the spiraling flute of the hermit's thrush
I've come all this way just to praise and to gush
And give thanks at the heart of the source

Up on the mountain high
Above the clouds
There is a fountain where
Nature knows no bounds
Songs pour like diamonds
Right out of the ground
Where the heart of the source can be found
