Eat a Little Crow

Daddy was a good man
With a kind and gentle way
Had a wise and easy spirit
In all the words he'd say
There's nothin' I wouldn't give to hear his voice
Saying it's gonna be okay
I still cherish all those moments when he'd call and help me through my day

Was a family man, and we loved his stories
About livin' on the farm
Sittin' by the campfire with his guitar
Singing Haggard and George Jones
And I could see as time went by, because of him
I'm the man I am today
His words still live on
And I can still hear him say

There'll be times in life to be proud
And hold your head up high
There'll be times in life to stand your ground
And know you've gotta fight
But more times than not, your gonna see
From lessons that you've learned and you'll know
But most times the best thing you can do
Is eat a little crow

When he grew up, life was tough
But his faith got him through
And the way he lived his life, was admired
By everyone he knew
Been a few years down the road and his words
They all ring true
If I could see him now I would tell him
You were right, and daddy I love you

There'll be times in life to be proud
And hold your head up high
There'll be times in life to stand your ground
And know you've gotta fight
But more times than not, your gonna see
From lessons that you've learned and you'll know
But most times the best thing you can do
Is eat a little crow

There's times you have to stop and bite your tongue
Son, eat a little crow
