You're like a 78 red MG
Because even though you seem beautiful to me
I can see you're falling apart inside
You're like the boat on the lake that day
Because you always seem to drift away
Right when everything seems fine
And looking back now it seems to me
That we had a good run, didn't we
I just wish only once you'd been on time

And talk about how the past few years have been

But that's kinda what made it fun
You're like the book I read last week
Because I always found you easy to read

And looking back now I have to say
I didn't think that it would be over this way
At least, not after just four months
So now we go our separate paths
Where I go back to work and you go back to class
As the summer ends and with it goes the sun
