The Unbearable Guilt
Here on my arm lies a mark that I made,
The last act of a lonely human.
There was too much hiding in me,
It's now time for me to leave.
It has always been here, inside of me,
Painful and invisible.
I can feel it possessing me: The Guilt
I did so much yet so little.
So much has been destroyed,
So much has been ruined
Because of our selfishness.
For too long it has obsessed me,
Obscure thoughts built in nothingness.
I'm now waiting for the Guilt to swallow me,
To blind me with its shadow, to deafen me in its silence,
So I can finally forget everything.
I shall join the world of night,
Out of memory, out of time,
Where no warmth, no light can reach me.
I shall forget this unbearable guilt.
I shall forget the birds, the trees, the mountains,
Even though I feel like
I've forgotten these so long ago.
As life is leaving my fragile body,
As I can't move anymore,
Each drop of my blood falls from my arm like a relief.
I am at last no longer part of this destruction.
Now as my pain slowly fades
A thorn remains in my broken crown.
May they raise my cross as an example
Of the path to follow.
For my death saves nothing but myself
Until all walk the same path.
So join me in nothingness.
In nothingness
From this Earth we distorted, it shall come
The day when we'll all finally die.
May our extinction be our redemption
Mother Earth, free yourself from mankind.
The last act of a lonely human.
There was too much hiding in me,
It's now time for me to leave.
It has always been here, inside of me,
Painful and invisible.
I can feel it possessing me: The Guilt
I did so much yet so little.
