Like Flowers

My writing poems, like flowers, never to be watered
My lovers, like my time, never to be fathered
And my crutch, it be my rhyme, untapped and unbothered
As I run lonely but free

My heart, like a crow, it is black and untamed
And my head it is sore, embarrassed and ashamed
And my love lies on the shore, desolate and unclaimed
As I chose this way to be

My thoughts they are rotten like deadwood on the trees
And my integrity is vapid, aiming only to please
Yet my ambition's limitless but too weak at the knees
As I wait for it to come unto me

My futures uncharted, my stars are unmapped
And my hope it is vanquished, my tongue it is trapped
And if I died tomorrow my existence would be capped
As some things that never came to be.
