Off My Shoulder

I asked if we could make a picture
All the colors laid out on the table
But all you did was go over
All the work that I'd done
Going on about last year's frame
When our ideas weren't even the same

I guess purple and yellow don't go together
As I thought
And the remainder of my paint is hot
To the touch
Cleaning the brushes that you dipped into my holder
Swiping the dried up crumbs off my shoulder

You ruined all of my brittle bristles
And told everyone it was my design
Thieving all of my little joke lines
And keeping every owed dime
Do you tell anyone who made your art
I bet you tell everyone I'm the one who broke your heart

I guess purple and yellow don't go together
As I thought
And the remainder of my paint is hot
To the touch
Cleaning the brushes that you dipped into my holder
Swiping the dried up crumbs off my shoulder

You ruined all of my favorite paintings
And then told everyone I was the one
That was draining

Purple and yellow don't go together
As I thought
And the remainder of my paint is hot
To the touch
Dipping all your brushes into my holder as I'm
Swiping the dried up crumbs off my shoulder
