Started off a Day Like Any Other

Started off a day like any other
Shelley and her lover
They'll be burning rubber for a day in the park, a lot like summer
With a kitty and a pupper
Black and white through to colour
Oh me oh brother
Peace and pleasure and joy uncovered
Not a care in the world, no cause for bother
Just loving one another

But look! What's that up above?
Something hovering over me and my love
Looks like there could be trouble to come

Is it a bird with its wings a-trying?
Is it a plane with its engines frying?
I'm having some trouble identifying
This shiny and spooky object flying
Extra! Extra! Read the next special!
That "something above" is extra-terrestrial
Are they looking to make us their next meal?
I hope that it's something a little less evil
Now a light's shining down and the ships are circling
We're trying to hide but it's not quite working
Viernes is tense and Pisco's berserking
Oh, what a worry when there's spaceships lurking
People getting caught and now they're rising
One's got Shelley! More scary than surprising
I'm trying to catch her but, despite my striving
She's sucked all the way up to the spaceship flying
Panic afoot! So many people missing
Including my one – we were only just kissing
Now they're flying away. They've completed their mission
"I should have held her closer" is all I'm wishing
What do we do? They're all gone
Once we were two, now we're one
The smile is through, the frown is on
Sadly staring at the grass that you were on
Supposed to be as good as any other day
Something from the brush of Claude Monet
Now my Shelley's been taken away
Oo-de-lally, oo-de-lally, golly what a day
