A Garden

I found a plot of land and called it all my own
I planted lilies and they bloomed as white as bone
I dreamt of pretty things and carved them out of stone
A love made all my own

I picked the roses till the blood ran from my hands
I watched the winter as it froze the best laid plans
And I heard the bluebirds sing for you and it was grand
Loveliness made dammed

Now I can't see
The forest through the trees
It's hard to breathe
Lungs bursting with weeds
The grass is always greener love
Play in hawthorn, pray in dust
Kneeling in the garden, I look up

I spent the mornings pouring water from my eyes
I feed the saplings from my soul and from my spine
Frail in the shadows drinking moonlight as they rise
For miles you see them climb

But I can't see
The forest through the trees
It's hard to breathe
Lungs bursting with weeds
The grass is always greener love
Play in hawthorn, pray in dust
Kneeling in the garden, I look up

They say if you love him let him go
And he'll come back in time
But what are you if you means you alone
And lonely what am I?

They say if you love him let him go
And he'll come back in time
But what are you if you means you alone
And lonely what am I?

Now I can't see
The forest through the trees
It's hard to breathe
Lungs bursting with weeds
The grass is always greener love
Play in hawthorn, pray in dust
Kneeling in the garden, I look up
