Common Enemy

Now we have a common enemy
Nature's force is staring back at me
I feel alone and know it cannot be
That there are those who still refuse to see

There's nothing you and I can do

When the sun burns through it all
Monuments of man will fall
What did it get us in the end?

Flaming day by day
Freezing in the dark
Choking on decay
Fill my lungs with grey

I swear we've heard it all before
Yet we still must do more
We have passed the final hour
Deserted by those who hold power

When the last one's carried away
When the night becomes the day
When the sun burns through our eyes
Will we then have realized?
What did it get us in the end?
