Imago

I'm a puppet, dancing upon the stage
Who pulls my strings, who turns the page?
I'm a poet, won't you listen to the songs I write
Sometimes it takes a little while, for us to see the light
I'm a weatherman, watching clouds and stars pass me by
In times of trouble, quietly wish the rain goodbye
Some think me a prophet, when everything I say comes to pass
Well you know that's not true, the die is cast

I'm a space age machination of this pantomime creation, and I feel my memory's fading away
I try to listen for the voices in my head, but they've got nothing left to say
I'll be a Jack, a Queen, a fool in a dream for you
I've got an ace up my sleeve, and I'll use it if you want me to
I'm the judge, I'm the jury, and I'm crowned the hangman
I've been trying all my life to be a better man
I'm a god, and I'm a king, and I'm everything in between
So lost in pride, I'll never know what any of it means

I'm a man, nothing more, and I'm on my way back home
Take me far away from here, save me from this shattered throne
Who are we to cast our shadows?
Who are you to fear tomorrow?
Who am I, to tear apart the threads of I that make up what I am, and always will be?
