One Good Act

As I look around, I wonder where our souls are bound
I can't help but think that we've all become weak
And, as I contemplate, mistakes that we all seem to make
I see all the ways how we've strayed from better days

Where'd the good go, in our everyday
When on earth did we all go astray
Kinder times are one good act away
Live each day, as though you're here to stay

People everywhere, don't seem to have much time to spare
They pass safely by, as for help neighbors cry
We don't seem to care, can't muster much more than a glare
Was there once a time when unkindness was rare

Where'd the good go, in our everyday
When on earth did we all go astray
Kinder times are one good act away
Live each day, as though you're here to stay

I might be incorrect, if not, I must be quite direct
The way we treat life, is recipe for strife
If nothing is true, then what connects both me and you
If nothing is wrong, then why is it we fall

Where'd the good go, in our everyday
When on earth did we all go astray
Kinder times are one good act away
Live each day, as though you're here to stay

So take this advice, if there's a doubt, please just be nice
It's not all that hard, and it leaves us unscarred
Each and every act, of good keeps our world in tact
You just might impact someone you don't expect

Where'd the good go, in our everyday
When on earth did we all go astray
Kinder times are one good act away
Live each day, as though you're here to stay
