Computer Kids

Mama I'm so tired these days
Working all the while just to make a living
Just like our fathers did, but they had old cars and seven children
Even the gas was 50 cents and that seemed expensive

Heard the river didn't filter through plastic bottles and soda cans
Cigarette butts and sandy rocks in the belly of the pigeon
You could have the bench seat sat with five unbuckled
Still make it past the station

Was it really better back when you didn't have something to recall
Did it all seem so innocent because it was all you got

Well I was one of those computer kids, and I still got scarred from barbed wire nests
Small town city, oil boom country, smoke stacks steam the sunsets
When the whistle blows you know the cabinets are gonna shake
From a rock slinging metal giant cruising down the railway
Right on main-street, the giant spruce stayed
But the house had been demolished, rightfully so I guess

And it was something rather somber
The dell diamond days changed us forever
And I still boil when I hear that song
I walked back in a shiver, acted so mature

Well I don't wanna be in Kansas anymore
If only I had a brain I'd be ashore
Well I don't wanna be in Kansas anymore, no sir
If only I had a brain, I'd be ashore

Was it really better back when you didn't have something to recall
Did it all seem so innocent because it was all you got
