Three Nights In The Hay
I lost my job
Just the other day
They used to work me like a mule
So it wasn't worth it anyway
"You're always late and when y'aint
You're too damn slow."
That's what the foreman said to me
And so I told him where to go, I said
Hey, HEY!
You cannot speak to me that way
But if you ask me so politely
I will sure be on my way, I said
Hey, HEY!
Do you'ave a place for me to stay?
Cause next thing you know it
I'll be sleeping in the hay!
Went to my sister's
Could you spare a couple bucks?
She said don't spend it all in one place
Or you'll soon be out of luck
So I went out to the pub
And I came home in a stew
And when I told the wife
She had a different point of view, she said
Hey, HEY!
You come home reeking of the brew
Disappointment after disappointment
Since I've married you, she said
Hey, HEY!
What's your plan?
Cause we've got bills to pay
You better find yourself a post
Or you'll be sleeping in the hay!
The day is long
Oh, but what's a man to do?
She nearly tore my freakin' head off
And I'd only had a few
But the wife is never happy
And the bills are always late
I think I've got a new idea
And the rest of it can wait, I said
Hey, HEY!
The pub is open until two
Oh, I can find a job tomorrow
At the crack of noon, I said
Hey, HEY!
I'd better grab my things and pray
Cause if there's one thing that's for sure
Tonight I'm sleeping in the hay!
Just the other day
They used to work me like a mule
So it wasn't worth it anyway
"You're always late and when y'aint
You're too damn slow."
That's what the foreman said to me
