Trenton Green
Stood at the corner on the banks of Trenton Green
You're a long way from home boy
Got my head kicked in on the way home from here just last week
So I learned how to fight back
First lesson I learned was the one how to bleed
Not even 8 years old
Face smashed hard down down into the playground concrete
This is the future for most the kids I know
From the banks of Trenton Green
But I am a phoenix rose from the ashes from that house on Chesapeake
The church on the corner stole all my dads money
They were the saviours of silver and gold
I'm still a believer
Though all the deceivers put a dent in the faith that I hold
My mum she worked the community centre
But they ripped it down last year
Not before time though
Nobody I know has any memory of it they hold dear
This is where dreams go and go to die slowly
I left mine on the factory floor
But I'm gonna play for Derby
Scored 2 at the weekend before John broke the goalkeepers jaw
And every third weekend the scouts they come down here
But they're looking at another boy
And that kid is bigger and I've had a shitter
So its back to the drawing board
Yeah this is the future for most the kids I know
From the banks of Trenton Green
But I've still got friends there
And they are the best ones and the only ones i'll ever need
Oh oh oh oh yeah this is Trenton Green
Born from the ashes singing songs for the masses
And now everyone round there's heard of me
Remember at school when my music teacher
Took the guitar from a hungry boys hand
Its not for you boy try out for the school choir
Never gonna make it in a rock n roll band
So I go and see Elvis he's got the shop on the corner
He'll gladly sell you booze
If you look ever 10 years old with a fake ID
And a photo that's clearly not you
And the same kids at night they'll kick his shop in
Take what's left of his patience and pride
They're not even racist just bored and they're angry
With the emptiness of their day to day lives
This is the future back to back boozers
Where the heroes are men with short fuses
Yeah this is the future that guys gonna do you
Stood on the shoulder of fruit machine losers
Oh oh oh oh yeah this is Trenton Green
Born from the ashes singing songs for the masses
And now everyone round there's heard of me
Oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh
