Mermaids

Mermaids swim up to see the moon
But they go down to earth to seek the truth
Waves stroke through their hair
They're currents of far
Can't find the way out of the water

They can hear your voice inside their heads
They wonder who you are
and want you dead
The colour of beets
and melting sand
Explaining the thousands
of glassy mucus and blood

Home's a statue underwater
No underworld
No phobias
Hells the place of guards to orchards
In the underworld no breath is pure

We go down into the battlefield
Erased by the rain and daffodils
Rain's older than earth
Yellow light casts on
Listen close it's the end of the world

So while you can go to your corner store
And buy her flowers
Even if they're wilted and old
Before everything turns to ashes or pixels
Nature will help
Or it will help to destroy

Expressed in dollars
Too numb to feel
Hyms to the machines
Numbered in words
So use them wisely
Don't boil in them
No don't boil in them

Home's a statue underwater
No underworld
No phobias
Hells the place of guards to orchards
In the underworld no breath is pure
