easier that way

Woke in the early morning
With a stomach ache
Thinking bout the poetry you wrote for me
I kept it safe
Butterflies were wild
But now I keep them tame
And you could push me up to my limit
But I will not break

And I know I can't brute-force change
Maybe you'll always just look at me the same
We both got friends
Our art, and places to stay
Maybe it's easier that way

I climbed the highest mountain
But I missed the peak
Must've veered so far off-course
I hit the bathroom sink
Strobe lights flicker out
As I kiss the toilet bowl
Maybe I can't hold my liquor down
But I can hold my own

And I know I can't brute-force change
Maybe you'll always just look at me the same
We both got friends
Our art, and places to stay
Maybe it's easier that way
Yeah, maybe it's easier that way
