What You Left Behind
So this one's for my brother Josh
Lost his life to cancer, passed away at the early age of 35
Left behind a beautiful child and wife
Just know we love you, man
We always will
This one's for you, man
When I was younger, I just didn't understand
what my life was gonna be like when I became a man
Ever since we were kids, you always had my six
Hittin' in the fist fights, you taught me all the tricks
From fightin' to music, you taught me everything
The thought that I could lose you and the pain that it would bring
I've seen you out of hope, down, mentally depressed
Gettin' pumped full of chemicals through a cord in your chest
I remember the feeling when you said that you could die
You got cancer at 14, but I never realized that if you ever left me
How much that I would miss the disappointment in your eyes
When I made you really pissed and the laugh
it brought to conversation with the joke that you would share
The followed over explanation from whoever wasn't there
The way you made me tell the story because I knew it better
You'd listen and you'd smile and add things you thought were clever
And I always felt invincible to have you by my side
And it's gonna take a long time for the sadness to subside
Sometimes I felt I knew you even better than yourself
You went through so much pain in life, I wish that I could've helped
We're so much alike, but different in many ways
I just wish you could've had a few thousand more days
To see your daughter grow up and raise your family
To be the greatest role model you always were to me
To teach her to drive that K5 and rip on a guitar
And help her heal and wipe her tears from her first broken heart
But we'll be here and you'll be up there watching over her
She'll have a lot of love from us, this you can be assured
When you look down and see us all, just know we miss you too
I have a million different things I wish I could say to you
I love you, I miss you, and I wish that you didn't have to go
I don't know if I can even fish without you bro
Shooting guns, playing guitars, it will never be the same
And since I can't invite you, it's hard to even game
I know it will be hard to stay on track and forward this endeavor
Because you've always had my back and been there since forever
Lost his life to cancer, passed away at the early age of 35
Left behind a beautiful child and wife
Just know we love you, man
We always will
This one's for you, man
When I was younger, I just didn't understand
