The Battle of the Bands/ Act One Finale

Sean was late to band practice again
They would have started without him
Except they were supposed to be learning his brand new song
"This is why I should be the only one writing the songs," Jimmy added
Helpfully

"Sorry guys"
Sean walks through the door "Got caught up in traffic, Anyway,
Here you go"

We are all just plastic machines
In this tornado of dreams
I am all alone
We are all alone

(okay, that's enough)

"This is why I should be the only one writing the songs"
And the rest of the band can't say it
But they sort of agree
And there's a petty fight for a second
Silent but intense
As they glare at each other and
Weigh their strength as friends
And it's decided they'll drop the song
And Jimmy pulls something new out his ass and
They start practicing that

They were not at all prepared
For the battle of the bands to come
But rumor had it some bigwig record exec would be there
And since the most important person to have stepped foot in their town
Was the inventor of ice cubes 150 years before
Every local band was in attendance
And Jimmy ensured the Stairs were there too

And they look to the stage
And they look to the crowd
And they agree no fucking up
Could ever be allowed

And now its their turn
To play

I loved your song
Your energy was unparalleled
It was the best thing I've seen all night
Hey, do you have a manager?
Can I cut you a deal?
Are you- going to say something?

The band stands in shock
As some bigwig exec
Keeps praising them
I mean what the hell is happening?
And finally Jimmy speak up-

"What were you saying about a deal?"
