Neon Light

It started so smoothly
You wouldn't believe me
It made more sense than anything else

It ended too quickly
But needed to be
There was no future between

When you crept beside that neon light
And our eventual demise

You tried to believe I'm
A bomb you defuse me
But it was you that pushed the red

If you could do it all again
Is there something else you'd try
To make it seem like you and I
Could make the stars cross or align

Or would you just say goodbye

The end is quite tempting
Its all kind of blending
With the start we love to try

Try hard to remember that
That particular ember
That used to be a spark

Am I wrong to say I want another way
Or is that meant for a long past day

You try to define
What's wrong with my mind
But maybe yours was the one that's blind

Did that thought ever cross your mind?
