The Sparrows Nest
Took a look outside my window in 2009
This kid was playing with a Bakugan I went and got mine
And so began a friendship that was one of a kind
It felt like summer never ending we got so much more time
Me and Demarcus
Spitting bars every child an artist
Till they grow up
He'd show up
To my crib and we started
Ripping BeyBlades
They say
Eventually those days fade
Pokémon cards only time that we would day trade (day trade)
No one knows
What tomorrow holds so (what tomorrow holds)
Let go of the hate you have (let go of the hate you have)
No one knows
Where tomorrow goes so (where tomorrow goes)
Baby keep the pain in the past (pain in the past)
The clock was never ticking back you see it moved us apart
Started slipping through the cracks but he was doomed from the start
Neglected by the ones that brought him onto this Earth
And misdirected by the gun scamming others for work
He was thievn' on my trust I was the next stop hardly
Could believe it after months he joined my Xbox party
Now he clowning on my mom the hate is real it got the air fresh
Back then she would make him meals
His parents couldn't care less (care less)
No one knows
What tomorrow holds so (what tomorrow holds)
Let go of the hate you have (let go of the hate you have)
No one knows
Where tomorrow goes so (where tomorrow goes)
Baby keep the pain in the past (pain in the past)
Harboring resentment
I was starving for contentment
But Demarcus was the farthest from a friend to make amends with
So we went our separate ways and the days turned to years
But the debt was never paid always stayed in my ear (ear)
On the night of Jan 6th at the age of 22
He found some friends to hang with they were smoking plenty too
But when they got back to the whip he had overdosed and died
And I lost track of the kids up at Sparrows Nest Drive (drive)
No one knows
What tomorrow holds so (what tomorrow holds)
Let go of the hate you have (let go of the hate you have)
No one knows
Where tomorrow goes so (where tomorrow goes)
Baby keep the pain in the past (pain in the past)
