LEAVES.

I always wondered why Nina said blood on the leaves
When we were hanging from trees
Maybe the attention to detail added to the imagery
That thought
Not merely, purely the human
Maybe because the human isn't merely pure
None of us are purely pure
A mere good deed doesn't fix it
A mere good life doesn't embody it
She talks about the leaf
As if it were a bystander to the tragedy
I think it's more
The leaf has blood that doesn't belong to it
From a body that wasn't here before it
But it will hold that blood
A mark-it of the horror
The leaf isn't symbolic it's always meant more than we think
Because somehow we're more important than it
Self centered
The blood's on the leaves like Nina said
Our product of impurity
Killing one another
And the leaf receives the aftermath
The only message we sort of understand
Red
