Virginia

I sit down across from her, she's stuck in a paperback
I can see her mind's lost, head's down, legs crossed
She's got nothing at all in common with me

Then the train pulls out from another stop
The sunlight bounces off my coffee cup
Straight into her eyes, and she blinks temporarily

And it makes her look up, see that she's not alone
Her broken look makes me think, she's a long way form home

She decides to speak, where you going
I say to her, Virginia Water
She says I'm going there too
It's been a while since I've seen my daughter

She puts the book away and smiles to me
As the train pulls into platform number three
She says, oh we're here. We could've talked more along the way
I said, it's better some than none
Who knows, maybe we'll talk another day

And it makes her look up, see that she's not alone
Her broken look makes me think, she's a long way form home

We step off the train, the weather changes so fast here
It starts to rain, and people run from the water
She finds shelter in the arms of Virgina, her daughter
She finds comfort in the arms of Virgina
