Stolen Childhood

Lately you went back to your childhood days
Thinking about the past you thought was oh so far away
Suddenly it seems just yesterday, the pictures bright and clear
Ghosts that haunted you more ghastly every year

You got into places, corners in your head
Who would've thought you'd find yourself so hurt and sad
Memories too painful to recall, no emotions left
I saw you cry about it all, 't was a childhood theft

Innocence gone, betrayal was what remained
Shattered and lonely, life would never be the same

But suddenly you found your way back towards the sun
You and your family have picked up life to carry on

You're feeling much stronger now you realize
That you were the victim of people that you now despise
Now and then you wander, through the corners of your mind
Knowing one day you'll have the strength to leave this all behind

You've picked up the pieces and you know I am here
We fought it together, the shadows of the past will disappear
