Oregon Coast

I miss the beach on the Oregon coast
And my friends from the USA
Maybe I'll go back there someday

I looked forward to this every summer
Our cousins came with us every other year
An eight hour drive from Canada, but totally worth it

This is the place we knew, the place we knew
Feels like home, away from home
The Oregon coast

Taking in the beach vibes
Turned up the volume on the highway drives
Went back to town to the candy shop
For the best saltwater taffy and a colorful lollipop

Running around town in the night
Playing cops and robbers
At the fort we always played capture the flag
I wasn't the fastest, but I slayed

This is the place we knew, the place we knew
Feels like home, away from home
The Oregon coast

But then one day, the exchange rate got bad
We didn't go to Oregon, I was sad
But that's okay, there were alternatives to our plan
Go with the flow, they say

There's always next year, and next year came so fast
I didn't realize how much time has passed
I was so excited once again to see my friends

I didn't miss out on the hugs this time
I knew that only a week of time is so short
Distant friendships aren't going to be easy
But I'll make it work
Someday I'll come back to this beautiful place

The Oregon coast
