Cabbie

My roomie in New York City
Supported himself with a cab
Taking fares to the airport
But claiming his meter was bad

Said "fifty bucks or forget it
His fares didn't have much choice
They paid his fare and were thankful
Their grievances rarely got voiced

Cabbies, cabbies on the run
Cabbies have such fun
Most of them are good guys
But some are really just bums

I used to drive cab in Boston
Had a lot of adventures there
Took a couple of gals to church one night
But they could not pay their fare (I paid it

Took one gal to the tenements
She told me to wait outside
I waited for twenty minutes (meter running
But she never came back for her ride
Bunch of kids gathered round me
Beating my cab with big sticks
I took off in a hurry
My cabbie days ended quick

Cabbies, cabbies on the run
Boston Cabbies have so much fun
Most fares are a pretty good bunch
But some end up eatting your lunch

Survival of the fittest
Is a cabbies jungle rule
You can make or break minimum wage
If you play by those jungle rules

Survival of the fittest
Is a cabbies jungle rule
You can make or break minimum wage
If you play by those jungle rules
