Passed Over

Rolling through my life, end over end like a tumbleweed
Beat up ball of strife, nobody's friend, too dried up to bleed
I have been passed over but I'm fine
Staggered halfway sober down the line
To a place where all my dreams combine
With the dust I've carried
Just like diamonds buried in a mine

Anywhere you go, short ways and long, to the bitter end
Anything you know might just be wrong but your wounds will mend
If you get passed over take your time
Fill that empty page and make it rhyme
Though your sentence may not fit the crime
I could never figure why a penny's bigger than a dime

That our separate paths have crossed is an accident of birth
By the tempest we were tossed but we're back on solid earth
All the things that we have lost will return to us as mirth
