The Teeth I Remember

Feeding on rancid debris
A hallowed gathering
Twisting their dark silhouettes on the wall
Decrepit doorway
Infinite death
Embedded in moss
Churning my slumber
Time has jaded my eyes
I cannot breathe

These fleeting dreams have spun
My head in disarray
My mind now withered
Wanes with every passing day
Paths now seldom trodden
Where ancients dream
Words from giants fallen
Beckon me

Flames have burned, only remnants in place
We cannot compare, to the glory of their waste

The stench still lingers
Reeks of death and foul decay
A beast that walks and talks
He whispers our dismay

Feel a life once fallen
Calling me
Echoes now revolving
Circling, bearing its teeth
Waters now forgotten
Washing over me
The teeth that I remember
Rotting in my dreams

Smiling in all we see
The fangs still haunt me
Posture reverted
A primate within
It's over now
I see the writing on the wall
Consuming everything
It blackens one and all

Feel a life once fallen
Calling me
Echoes now revolving
Circling, bearing its teeth
Waters now forgotten
Washing over me
The teeth that I remember
Rotting in my dreams
When ashes fall to embers
When all shines brilliantly
Their past remains unknown
Preserving itself in the deep
In time the plaque's been altered
Repeating history
Of beasts and fangs and slaughter
Preying on the weak
