Nicest Polo
The kettles boiling
While I make everyone a brew
I'm making polite conversation
And everybody asks how's you
Cause it's the little things that matter
And it's all in the kind gestures
With some casual chitter chatter
About catching up on lectures
And there hasn't been much special
In the 2 days of the year
With my bets down the toilet
And my old man in my ear
About how the house always wins
And I'm just wasting my time
But I'm just chasing my losses
That I can't seem to find
And I'm lounging round
Wasting my days
Just thinking of
Some better things to say
While in my uni home
In a drunken haze
And we're dreaming of
Some sunny days
Cause my new friend is time
And he's here for hours
As I sing away to old love songs
Taking really long showers
I'll be back in a few days
And I just need some time
To find some new ways
And to enjoy the daytime
And I put on my nicest polo
Just to go to the shops in
But I'm all dressed up now
I just hope someone's watching
Between the MP's
And your green peace
Like lime leaves
And lemon trees
You lose half of it
To a bitter sneeze
You lose half of it
Stuck to yours keys
And you'll soon find
Chasing that high
Buying one too many scratchies
Just to scratch by
You're hoping for that one winner
So you can leave all this behind
Get yourself some nice dinner
The one way out that you can find
Another 40 quid
Down the drain
And another numbing
Of the brain
And another waste
Of nice champagne
And another morning
And another migraine
Cause it's a sign of the times
Another bag of dimes
Cause when you're buying from an old mate
You've gotta read between the lines
And I'll be back in a few days
And I just need some time
To find some new ways
And to enjoy the daytime
And I put on my nicest polo
Just to go to the shops in
But I'm all dressed up now
I just hope someone's watching
While I make everyone a brew
I'm making polite conversation
