Leaving You Behind

Well I woke up this morning without a damn thing to my name
The beer and booze I drank never left me the same
So I went to the kitchen, opened up my refrigerator door
And found I had drank everything I had the night before

The headache that I had, my God it tortured me
My eyes were foggy as a cloud, and I really couldn't see
So I went back to my bedroom, crawled up my worn-out bed
And found a note beside my pillow as I lay down my head

It said "hey I know these times are tough and I really wouldn't leave
But the way that you've been drinking lately, man it's getting to me
So I think we'd both be better off if I just said goodbye
Forgive me, hope you see the reason and rhyme
Cause that's why I'm leaving you behind"

Well, I guess I drank more than I really thought I had
Cause I didn't even notice she was gone till I saw what she said
So I picked myself up, picked up my old six string
And I sang away the blues that her leaving brought to me

And as I was singing, it kept running through my mind
She was just a girl, and I will be alright
But I'll always be reminded of that time she left that note
It'll always haunt me with every word she wrote

It said "hey I know these times are tough and I really wouldn't leave
But the way that you've been drinking lately, man it's getting to me
So, I think we'd both be better off if I just said goodbye
Forgive me, hope you see the reason and rhyme
Cause that's why, I'm leaving you behind"

It said "hey I know these times are tough and I really wouldn't leave
But the way that you've been drinking lately, man it's getting to me
So, I think we'd both be better off if I just said goodbye
Forgive me, hope you see the reason and rhyme
Cause that's why, I'm leaving you behind"

Oh, that's why, I'm leaving you behind

Hell yeah
