Green Thursday

Abba Father all things are possible in thee
If it be thy will thou wouldst take away this cup before I drink

When the one who'd betrayed Him was gone long enough
He wandered the garden and thought about love
All the pinings and the pardons the thrill in the trust
And the mourning, the mourning
For something He'd lost

At the edge of the garden he knelt by a by a stone
He knelt in submission he felt near alone
Surrendered his heart to a cool empty throne
T'was Thursday Green Thursday
Bent to the tomb

Then an old friend dropped by for a foul smelling kiss
On his way to a rope and an endless abyss
Now Judas, how could you betray me like this?
T'was silver, just silver
The silence would hiss

Then the soldiers invaded with shackles and spears
Good Peter drew blade and a man lost an ear
Then Jesus but touched him the soldier was healed
T'was the last healing miracle
Fore He was killed

That soldier went on to learn songs of the birds
Peter wrote letters and an led a young church
And I've taken comfort In Jesus's search
For safety and savior
In moments of hurt
