Winter

There's a photo of you applying makeup
That was taken on my Canon DSLR
It's still lying in my 17th unnamed folder
I haven't deleted it in case it'd be a useful memory to me

If me and you decided we could be
What we always wanted from a family
Like we even know what we'd ever want to see
So will you just believe

How would you react the first time that you meet my parents
Would you understand the subtleties of my dad's jokes
They're dry and sort of funny if you don't think too hard
But when you get it you will laugh so hard that you might choke

Provoked
Like when you puff those cigarettes you smoke
Awoke
To find that you are dead and broke

But no, that's just the way that our lives go

And there's graffiti on the walls expressing all your woes
But no one really listens to the poems you compose
So meet me down the hall to greet me with a rose
And try to say that you express things better when it's prose
And I can't stand to see you dead and decomposed
So please me winter, give me snow
So please me winter, give me snow
So please me winter, give me snow
So please me winter, give me snow
So please me winter, give me snow
Love me winter, love me so
